About Us

Through hope, laughter, and play, we create joyful experiences by providing meaningful programs to those in the community who are coping with health and other life challenges.

Hope Laugh Play, Inc. (HLP), hosts LEGO Build Events at local hospitals, camps, and schools in the Charlotte and Atlanta areas. For a few playful hours, children have the opportunity to escape and have fun with LEGOs. We bring in volunteers and an inventory of new LEGO sets that span all ages and interests to allow children to select their own set to build. Volunteers play alongside each child to assist with the build experience.

Children who are unable to join the events in person, receive a set that is delivered to their room by a caregiver or family member to ensure they will have the chance to participate. At the end of the event, the children take the LEGOs with them in a convenient draw string bag that allows them to rebuild as many times as they choose to play.

We proudly serve approximately 1,000 children each year and are growing with your support.

At HLP, we are committed to being good stewards of your support and maximizing donations to provide as many events as possible. To date, we have achieved allocating 85% of funding to support events across the community, spending less than 15% on operating expenses.

Why do we do this? For over 5 years, we have received overwhelming feedback from parents and the facilities we serve that affirm we are providing support in a unique way for families in need of hope, laughter, and play.

One patient, who loved LEGOs very much, was unable to come to the library due to a medical condition, but every month a LEGO set was delivered to his room. He spent time with his family building each of them and this became so special to the family. When this special child lost his long and courageous battle with cancer, his family asked that the mold of his hand be made holding a Lego. We will always treasure what HLP meant to this child and his family.

“Hope Laugh Play brings a very happy time for the children and staff here in the Egleston Family Library at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Words cannot express the gratitude that we feel to all the special people from Hope, Laugh, Play and the donors that support them.”
-Vandie Enloe, Family Library Coordinator

‚ÄúThank you so much for making my sweet son happy. This was his 14th surgical procedure since we adopted him 7 years ago. It has been a very painful surgery, so to see him eager to get out of his bed and come to the LEGO party was a joy for me! Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.”
